CHANGE OF VAT RATE FROM 1st JANUARY 2010

In his Pre-Budget
Report to the House on 9th December 2009 the Chancellor of the
Exchequer, Alistair Darling, confirmed that the standard VAT rate would revert
to 17.5% on 1st January 2010 “as planned”. The Chancellor also
confirmed that “no other VAT changes are planned”.
We have put together
some notes addressing a range of issues which must be considered. Also, as
requested by many local authorities, we have separately compiled a number of
frequently asked questions which may be more widely circulated amongst
colleagues. These papers are available in the Members’ Area of our
website.
