9th December 2009 - In his Pre-Budget Report to the House on 9th December 2009 the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, confirmed that the standard VAT rate would revert to 17½% on 1st January 2010 “as planned”.

Changes to zero rating for buildings used for a relevant charitable purpose

3rd November 2009 - HMRC are withdrawing their concession which allows a charitable body to use a building for business purposes as long as that business use does not exceed 10% and will, in future, require any business use not to exceed 5%.
