There was little, if anything, on VAT which will have a direct impact on local authorities, The VAT treatment of certain postal services will change and a beneficial VAT accounting arrangement which has been used by a number of voluntary aided schools has been removed.

References have been made to the possible introduction in the UK of exempting from VAT certain recharges when made by cost-sharing groups. The details on this are not currently available but there is the possibility that this might impact on local authorities and we shall advise on this as more information becomes available.
